The title of the second “Sumikko Gurashi” movie, scheduled to be released in November 2021, has been decided as “Sumikko Gurashi The Movie: Aoi Tsukiyo no Mahou no Ko”. At the same time, the teaser visual was also unveiled for the first time.
“Sumikko Gurashi” is a character content that won the Grand Prix at the “Japan Character Awards 2019”.
The first movie “Sumikko Gurashi The Movie: Good to be in the Corner”, directed by Mankyu and released in 2019, was a huge hit with 1.22 million viewers.
The second film will be directed by Omori Takahiro of “Natsume’s Book of Friends” fame and written by Yoshida Reiko, who has worked on “Violet Evergarden”. This is the first time for the two directors to work together, and Fanworks will continue to produce the animation from the previous film, depicting a mysterious story that takes place in the town where Sumikko characters live.
“Sumikko Gurashi The Movie: Aoi Tsukiyo no Mahou no Ko” will open nationwide in November.

I’ve been involved in many different genres of work, but this was my first experience with a work like Sumikko Gurashi, and when I was approached, I was nervous, wondering if I would be able to broaden the appeal of this work.
However, when I started working on it, I found that I was a “Sumi Oyaji (literal translation: Sumi old man)” rather than a Sumikko, as my desk at work was in the corner, my house was against a wall, and the house I was born was also on the corner!
Now I’m working hard to create the film, guided by my senior Sumikko. I hope to see you at the movie theater in the fall. Please look forward to it!

I knew Sumikko characters and their friends from the app game and the previous movie, so I was very happy to be able to participate in this project.
I felt that the reason why all the girls are so cute is because they are well-crafted on the outside and inside. The shyness, shamelessness, and sadness hidden in their hearts may be the elements that make each of them attractive. I hope this film will make you love something that is in a corner of your heart, too.

I wonder what kind of story “Aoi Tsukiyo no Mahou no Ko” will be! The subtitle alone is enough to get me excited!
