From the creators of “Frozen” and “Moana”, Disney AnimationDisney Animation’s latest movie “Raya and the Last Dragon” was announced to premiere on 2021, Mar. 12 throughout theaters in Japan under the title “Raaya to ryuu no oukoku”. The Japanese version of the trailer and posters were also revealed.
“Raya and the Last Dragon” is a fantasy/adventure feature length animation, outlining an epic tale of struggle and growth surrounding the young girl Raya, set in the land of Kumandra (translated to Japanese as Ryuu no Oukoku/Dragon Kingdom),
Born in a tribe that is sworn to the protect the mythical Dragon Gem, the young protagonist must depart alone on a journey in order to restore the power of the long forgotten Last Dragon, and bring back order to the world.
The trailer starts off with an impressive high-paced scene of Raya dodging traps. And later on, scenes of an adult Raya, which are also used for the Japanese version posters. The gallant heroine appears holding a sword, and wearing a robe and long boots. She also has on a shiny jewel, which appears to be the Dragon Gem.
Accompanying her journey is Tuk Tuk, the partner amardillo whose heavily armored shell hides his adorable and fluffy self, of similar adorableness to the sidekicks Olaff (Frozen) and Hei Hei (Moana).
The silhouette of the dragon hiding in the woods, can be seen once again at the end of the trailer, however it’s not quite clear if it’s a cloud or a shadow.
The footage displays the type of quality that’ll only raise expectations for the epic fantasy movie.
Disney Animation’s newest movie “Raya and the Last Dragon” will hit Japanese theaters on 2021, Mar. 12.
