A mook “Mashin Hero Wataru: Ikusabe Wataru and Toraou × Pia” featuring “Mashin Hero Wataru” has been released on Aug. 31. It is on-sale at nationwide bookstores and online stores.
It focuses on the “trail of battles and friendship” between Ikusabe Wataru and Toraou, including a special interview with Tanaka Mayumi (voice of Wataru) and Ikura Kazue (voice of Toraou) and messages towards the fans.
“Mashin Hero Wataru” was broadcast on TV from 1988 to 1989. The protagonist Ikusabe Wataru fights against the evil emperor Doakudaa along with Ryuujinmaru and others. The anime was very popular among the kids at the time.
The series announced to be rebooted in Oct. 2019, and many fan-favorite projects have developed, such as the new anime “Mashin Hero Wataru: The Seven Spirits of Ryuujinmaru”, new figures, distribution of a novel, and a sterilized visual story.
This book, which has been a hot topic among fans on social media since its release was announced, is the latest mook series from Pia, and it thoroughly explains “Mahin Hero Wataru”, which has been revived after 23 years.
Starting with the information about the latest series “Mashin Hero Wataru: The Seven Spirits of Ryuujinmaru”, the book gives detailed introductions of the famous scenes of Ikusabe Wataru and Toraou, their accomplishments, transitions, quotes, and the Mashin's they piloted. It also features the other characters including, Tsurugibe Shibaraku, Shinobibe Himiko, Wataribe Kuraba, Umihiko, Seiju, and Donarukami Dodo.
A special interview with Tanaka Mayumi (voice of Wataru) and Ikura Kazue (voice of Toraou) is also included.
It has been 32 years since the TV broadcast, and they talk about the harmonious episodes of the time, their thoughts on their characters, and the content of the latest series. The messages to fans at the end of the interview are must-reads.
