The cancellation of the world's largest anime event, AnimeJapan 2020, which was scheduled to be held at Tokyo Big Sight for 4 days from Mar. 21 to 24, 2020, has been announced.

AnimeJapan, which has been held in late March every year since 2014 with the catchphrase “All about anime is here”, is a full-anime event that features booths of anime-related companies and organizations, and voice actors and artists on stage.

In Feb. 17, it was announced that “we are making preparations for the event as planned, but depending on the situation regarding the spread of the coronavirus, there is a possibility that the event will be canceled”. At this time, the cancellation has been officially announced.

The “Family Anime Festa” for families, which was scheduled to be held at the same time, has been canceled as well.

Anime Japan, the corporated association that runs the event, has commented, “With the spread of 'New Coronavirus Infectious Disease', as well as the government's self-restraint policy regarding events announced on Wednesday, Feb. 26, we have decided the cancellation of the show in view of the safety of all visitors, who are the anime fans, and all parties involved in Anime Japan”.

Following the cancellation of “AnimeJapan 2020”, refunds will be available for all types of tickets from Mar 6. Further details will be announced on the official website from the same date.
