Feb. 14 is Valentine’s Day.
Valentine Day is the time where you confess your love to your loved one which is something that all anime fans cannot miss. Valentine’s Day-related events are held, along with the release of original illustrations and limited gifts, becoming so a hot topic.
At Anime! Anime!, we conducted an annual reader survey asking “Which character do you want to give/receive chocolate from on Valentine’s Day?”. During the survey period between Jan. 29 to Feb. 5, a total of 245 responses were received.
There were more female respondents with the gender ratio being 20% male and 80% female. The age group was about 40% for those under the age of 19, and about 30% for those in their 20s, mainly focusing on youngsters.
Now we will announce the results of the characters which fans want to receive chocolate from on Valentine’s Day.
■ Amuro is on the top again!
The 1st place goes to Amuro Tooru from “Detective Conan”. The approval rating was about 15%, taking both tops together with the previous survey “Which character do you want to give chocolate on Valentine’s Day?”.
There were many votes from fans who want to taste the cooking techniques that would put professionals to shame, “Amuro-san is a great culinary expert in several food dishes, such as Café Poirot’s half-baked cakes and ham sandwiches. I believe his chocolate is also super delicious!”, and “I want Valentine’s chocolate from Amuro-san! It seem like he will give to Poirot’s clients”.
The 2nd place goes to Sera Masami from “Detective Conan”, with a percentage of votes equal to approximately 4%.
Many fans appreciated her way of being boyish while still maintaining her femininity, “She’s cute and cool, and I love the difference she shows sometimes between being a little sister and a mature woman”.
There were also comments about the movie of this year, “Detective Conan: The Scarlet Bullet” which was revealed that the Akai family will be gathered together, “I am looking forward to seeing them in the movie.”
The 3rd place goes to Kagura from “Gintama”, with an imperceptible gap of votes from the 2nd place.
There is a Valentine’s Day-related situation for Kagura in episode 204, “The Heart Comes before Chocolate”. Many fans were impressed by her shy behavior, “Seeing her so embarrassed while giving chocolate to the other two Yorozuya members was very cute”.

Watabe Satoru from “Stand My Heroes PIECE OF TRUTH”, “Watanabe is an expert in sweets, so I think he will give me the best chocolate ever made” where sweets lover character was also ranked in.
The ranking mainly includes characters with excellent culinary skills. As expected, the readers want to receive a delicious gift.
