Which character do you want to give on Valentines Day? Characters from “Detective Conan” dominated the higher ranks!

Feb. 14 is the Valentines Day.
The day to deliver important messages to whom you love is also important to anime fans. There are Valentiens Day-related events, original illustrations, or gifts given, and the day is always the hot topic.

Here at Anime! Anime!, annual reader survey asking, “Which character do you want to give/receive chocolate on the Valentines Day?”. The survey was conducted from Jan. 29, 2020 to Feb. 5, 2020, and we received answers from 245 readers.
The female made up higher ratio approximately 80%, while male made up about 20% of the total vote. Also, younger voters made up majority of the vote, where 19 years old or under made up approximately 40% and 20’s made up approximately 30%.
This article will announce the results for the survey.

■”Detective Conan” characters dominated the higher ranks.
The 1st place is Amuro Tooru from “Detective Conan”. The support rating was approximately 15%.

A comment mentioned Amuro’s kindness by saying, “I think Amuro will accept the chocolate which I made with a hard work with a smile”. Some other comments mentioned Amuro’s high ability in cooking by saying, “We can expect for tasty return gifts!”.
Other comments mentioned Amuro who borders on being dangerous by saying, “I am not sure if he really eats the chocolate because of his job, but I am happy enough if he accepted it”, and “I think he will not eat a handmade chocolate, so I want to give him tasty chocolate from good chocolate stores”.

The 2nd place was Phantom Thief Kid from”Magic Kaito” and “Detective Conan”. The support rating was approximately 5%.

Many comments mentioned him being the great thief by saying, “I want the chocolate made for him being stolen!” and “I can expect the return gift for the White Day with a wonderful trick”. The fact that he likes chocolate is also the reason that he was choosen, and there was a comment related to that which said, “Because he loves sweets and his favorite food is the chocolate ice cream, so I think he will enjoy the chocolate gift”.

The 3rd place was Akai Shuucihi from “Detective Conan” and Sakata Gintoki from “Gintama”. They tied with the same number of votes.
The comments for Akai Shuuichi often expected him to reject the gifts since he is hard-boiled egg by saying, “I want to my chocolate gift be rejected by him saying, ‘I appreciate your offer, but I don’t like sweets'”.
On the other hand, Sakata Gintoki loves sweets. Many fans expected him to enjoy chocolate gifts by saying, “I think he will enjoy the gift because he loves sweets!”.

For Tomioka Giyuu from “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba”: “I want to see his reaction because he is usually a calm character” and “I am happy enough to see him saying ‘Thank you'”.
For Tachibana Makoto from “Free!”: “I want to give him cat-shaped chocolate because he loves cats! I am happy if I could see his happy face!”

For Nikaidou Yamato from “Idolish Seven”: “I want to give him a gift because Feb. 14 is his birthday.”
For Jinguuji Ren from “Uta no Prince-sama”: “He was born in Feb. 14, and also born for being loved by ladies.”
There are votes for characters because they are born on the same date as the Valentines Day.
