The latest entry of the “Ice Age” franchise, “Ice Age: Adventures of Buck Wild“ is coming to Disney+ on March 25, 2022. In preparation for the release we would like to take this opportunity to reminisce on the past 20 years of the series in this brief retrospective.
“Ice Age” takes place 20,000 years on the past during the glacial era, and follows the crazy adventures of unique characters Manny the mammoth, Sid the ground sloth, and their friends.
The series has released a total of five movies and several shorts throughout 20 years. The narrative of the movies are centered around the theme of family, and is marked by scenes about friendship and comedy, producing a touching story that reached the hearts of children and grown-ups alike.
Manny the mammoth, Sid the sloth, and Diego the sabertooth tiger, are the main characters of “Ice Age” that have been traveling together since the first movie of the series.
Everything begins after encountering an abandoned human baby, the trio ends up to embarking in a dangerous journey to deliver the back back to its family, facing countless trials all the while building friendship.
Later on they are joined by another mammoth, Ellie, and her adoptive brothers, the twin possums Crash and Eddie.
The group travel together in order to run away escape from a giant flood, and throughout it Manny and Ellie become a couple, and the entire group starts resembling a family.
Throughout each character can be seen portraying their role as a member of this new found family, Manny as the dad, Ellie as the mom, Diego as the uncle, Crash & Eddie as brothers, and Sid as their pet.
In the following film Manny and Ellie eventually give birth to Peach. This new chapter depicts the struggles of raising a child, as well as the turmoil that parents experience when their child reaches adulthood. It’s a dramatic tale of the same that anyone in the modern day can related to.

has moved many fans around the world during these past 20 years.
Now in the new movie that is about to be released, Crash and Eddie are still the same jovial and mischievous creatures, but as Ellie is more mature and is now a mother, they start acting more like parents towards her. The thrill seeking pair decide to leave the group and set out on their own on a new adventure to the depths of the earth, reuniting with Buck the dinosaur hunter weasel.
Together, the 3 of them face a dinosaur menace scheming to conquer the world. However due to unexpected circumstances Buck gets captured by the enemy. How will the two possums overcome this situation?
“Ice Age: Adventures of Buck Wild “ will premiere on March 25 at Disney+. The previous five films will also be streamed as well.
