Recently, more and more animated movies have been released, and it became a hot topic that “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Train” (released in 2020) set a new record of the highest-grossing Japanese film of all time.

Animated movies offer you different charms from TV anime in that you can enjoy them on a big screen with audio equipment of high quality.

Therefore, Anime!Anime! conducted a reader survey titled “What anime would you like to be made into a movie?”. During the survey period from June 27 to August 3, a total of 344 responses were received. For the gender ratio, the females were the majority with about 75% while the males were about 25%. For the age distribution, we received the majority of responses from the young readers: about 45% were from teens, and 25% were from those in their 20s.

■The titles that look great in movies have ranked in!

1st Place

1st place went to “Idolish7”. The support rating was about 12%.

The readers said that they wanted to see the live-performances in a movie with the comments including, “I would like to see the profound story and beautiful illustrations in a movie! I would be really impressed if I could see such wonderful live-performances in a theater!”, and “I would be happy if I could feel the idols’ voices with 3d audio effect”.
Moreover, many readers said that they would like to see the stories within the story on a screen, saying “There are some dramas within the story, so I would like them to be made into a movie”.
The title, season 3 of which is currently broadcast, is topping the list.

2nd Place

2nd place went to “City Hunter”. The support rating was about 9%.

Although the title received an anime adaptation in the past, many readers hope for its sequel with the comments including, “‘Shinjuku Private Eyes’ released in 2019 and the French live-action movie ‘Nicky Larson et le Parfum de Cupidon’ were so great movies that would attract more and more people, so I would like to see another one”, and “I would like to see the episodes that have not received anime adaptations yet in a movie”. We received many comments from long-time fans.

3rd Place

3rd place went to “Haikyu!!”. The support rating was about 6%.

This popular series experienced the compilation film before. The received comments include, “I would like to see the spectacular battle between the Karasuno High School and the Nekoma High School, which is also known as ‘The Dumpster Battle’, on a big screen.”, “The battles would have more impact with the audio equipment in theaters”, and “The TV series ended with a good scene, so please produce the sequel!”.

“SK8 the Infinity”
“As the new anime project has been launched, and the stage-play adaptation has been announced, I would like to see its movie next!” The title released in 2021 has also received some votes.

In this survey, a wide range of titles, including an idol, action, and sports, have ranked in. The titles with the scenes that look great in movies such as battles or live-performances, stand out in the result.
