August 4 is “Yukata Day”.
It was established by the Kinosaki Onsen Tourist Information Center in Kinosaki-cho, Hyogo-ken, after the “Kinosaki Furusato Festival”. July 7 is also “Yukata Day”, and it was established by the Japan Yukata Association.

A yukata emits the good summer vibes while making the characters more charming. The characters with a different air than usual would surely make your heart throb. If the readers can go out to a festival with their favorite character, who would they choose?

Therefore, Anime!Anime! conducted an annual reader survey titled ‘If you go to a festival wearing a yukata, which character would you like to accompany?’. During the survey period from July 18 to 25, a total of 286 responses were received. For the gender ratio, the females were the majority with about 80% while the males were about 20%. For the age distribution, we received the majority of responses from the young readers: about 45% were from teens, and 40% were from those in their 20s.

In this article, we will introduce the result for the male character edition.

■The characters from the popular titles occupied the top positions!

1st Place

1st place went to Kudou Shinichi from “Detective Conan”. The support rating was about 20%.

Many readers want him to enjoy a festival with the heroine Ran, and they voted for him under the name of Shinichi rather than Conan. The comments include, “I would like to go to a festival with Shinichi-kun and Ran-chan, wearing yukatas!” and “I would like to sneak a look at him blushed while enjoying a festival with Ran”.
Also, some readers have some expectations for his sound reasoning, saying “He is a talented detective, so he is likely to solve a case that occurs in a festival, with style”.

2nd Place

2nd place went to Sakata Gintoki from “Gintama”. The support rating was about 10%.

The readers wish to eat around at food stands with him, saying “He looks nice in Japanese-style clothes, and many foods stands at festivals offer sweets, so he would enjoy them as he loves sweets”. Since many characters wearing Japanese-style clothes appear in “Gintama”, a few of them have been ranked in this ranking.
To Takasugi Shinsuke in 5th place received a comment, “He well dresses a gorgeous kimono without a hakama very well, so I would like to spend time with him in a festival with lively vibes”.

3rd Place

3rd place went to Akai Shuichi from “Detective Conan”. The support rating was about 5%.

Following Kudou Shinichi at the top, a popular character from “Detective Conan”, who played a major role in the film “The Scarlet Bullet” released this year, has been ranked in.
The comments received for a sniper Akai were, “I would like to see Akai-san in a yukata, and he would carefully escort his partner”, “If I went to a festival with the Akai family, I would be able to enjoy different vibes than usual”, and “I would like to see him enjoying a shooting gallery”.

Some readers wish to enjoy festival stalls with him, saying “He is good at a shooting gallery, so he would get me many gifts”.

In this survey, multiple reliable characters have been ranked in. Since the characters are likely to find you in a short while when you get lost in the crowd, such a sense of security would be a reason for them to have won many votes.
