May 12 is “Nurses Day”.

It is a memorial day established in honor of the birthday of Florence Nightingale, who served in the Crimean War as a nurse. Nurses who help people when they are sick are one of the most admired professions.

There are many characters related to nurses in anime and games. Who do you think is the most popular of them all?

So, Anime! Anime! conducted a reader survey titled “Who do you think is the most popular nurse character?” for the first time in 3 years. We received responses from 60 people during the survey period from April 27 to May 4.
The ratio of males to females was approximately 35% of males, and approximately 65% of females, which shows a higher rate of females. Approximately 45% of the respondents were under the age of 19, and approximately 30% were in their 20s.

■From real nurses to transforming heroines ranked in
As in the previous survey, Joy from “Pokémon” received a large number of votes.
Readers commented, “She treats Pokémon at any Pokémon Center gently, and Lucky who is with her is also cute” and “She always makes Pokémon feel better at the Pokémon Center.”
Joy is dressed like a nurse, but as her name suggests, she is a female doctor (女医). Her relatives work at various Pokémon Centers in different cities. “They all look the same, but Takeshi is amazing at recognizing them. In fact, they all have different characteristics and are quite unique,” commented one of the readers who mentioned each one’s difference.

In this survey, there were also votes for characters who play a role in healing their company. There are some comments saying, “Yosano Akiko from “Bungo Stray Dogs” is like a nurse from the point of view of healing the wounds of her company. The way she heals is a bit of a mess, though ……” and “Kanzaki Aoi from “Demon Slayer” deals with her job quickly and efficiently as a nurse, and is trusted by Shinobu. I sympathized with her attitude that she knows what she should do because she is a former swordsman.”

Nurses are often the subject of transforming heroines. There are some comments for Cure Ange / Yakushiji Saaya from “Hug! Pretty Cure”: “Because she’s a PreCure inspired by a nurse. Saaya herself decided to pursue a career in medicine, and I loved the way she looked,” and for Moriya Ririka from “Nurse Angel Ririka SOS”: “I was impressed by her devotion to a serious battle in which people die even though she is a cute magical girl.”

Of course, there were also votes for characters who were involved in nursing work, and we received some comments for Toyokawa Fuka from “THE iDOLM@STER MILLION LIVE!”: “Because of her background as a nurse to an idol,” and for Nightingale from “Fate/Grand Order”: “Because she is a character based on a great nurse.”
On the other hand, we received a vote for Asahina Mikuru from “The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi”, who is a character who showed her cosplay: “Because Mikuru-chan looked so good in her nurse’s uniform and it was so cute!”

The following is a list of all the characters that received votes including a main character who aspires to become a nurse in the middle of the story, a female nursing instructor in a school, and even a character who knows a lot about pharmacology. Please check them out!
