The culture of celebrating characters’ birthdays as a way to show affection to certain characters has become quite popular. Many of you may have seen pictures of parties with cakes surrounded by goods , and postings of blessing illustrations on SNS.

Here at Anime!Anime!, we conducted a reader survey titled “Which April-born character did you celebrate the birthday of?” We received responses from 195 people during the survey period from May 1 to May 4.
The male-female ratio is about 15% for males and about 85% for females. About 55% of the age group were under 19, and about 30% were in their 20s.

■ Many characters were born on April Fool’s Day!
1st place
1st place goes to Nakahara Chuya from “Bungo Stray Dogs” with an approval rating of about 10%.

Nakahara Chuya’s birthday is April 29. He is an Executive of the Port Mafia and an old friend of Dazai Osamu from a former armed detective agency, but now they are like cats and dogs.
Various “special abilities” based on the motif of real literary masters appear in “Bungo Stray Dogs”. The “special abilities” are inspired by the poems and novels of the model literary master, and the birthdays of the characters are the same as that of the literary masters..

2nd place
2nd place goes to Bakugo Katsuki from “My Hero Academia” with an approval rating of about 8%.

Bakugo Katsuki’s birthday is April 20. He is a freshman at 1-A of the Hero department of Yuei High School, and is a childhood friend of the main character, Midoriya Izuku.
“Hiroaka” is a hero-action manga, where everyone fights using an ability called “quirks”. Bakugo’s quirk is Explosion, and he has the power to explode his sweat. The character from the popular series of which the 5th season is currently on air, is ranked high.

3rd place
3rd place goes to Yumeno Gentaro from “Hypnosismic: Division Rap Battle” with an approval rating of about 5%.

Yumeno Gentaro’s birthday is April 1st. He is a member of Fling Posse and is a novelist. April Fool’s Day may be the perfect birthday for him, as he is always lying. Aimono Jyushi from the same title, who was born on April 14, is also ranked in 11th place.

In the April birthday questionnaire, multiple characters born on April 1 were ranked in. Since it is also April Fool’s Day, it is easy to remember and is set for many characters’ birthdays. It was a close match with 17 characters lined up in 19th place .
