Titled “Ghibli movies at least once in your lifetime”, a total of 4 Ghibli movies, including “Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind” and “Princess Mononoke”, will be shown at 372 movie theaters around Japan from Jun. 26, 2020. The great works of the Japanese animation industry will be shown on the big screens of the movie theaters.

The movies shown this time are: “Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind”, “Princess Mononoke”, “Spirited Away”, and “Tales from Earthsea”.

“Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind” is the movie released in 1984. Nausicaa is the name of the absolute heroine created by the director Miyazaki Hayao. It had huge effects on the movies and anime around the world and changed the way the female protagonist should be.

“Princess Mononoke” is the large-scaled story of the relationship between nature and humans. It had set a new record of the box-office revenue in Japan of 1997 and become popular around the world. The movie challenged the question-can nature and human coexist?

“Spirited Away” is the movie released 2001 which ranks in the top of the box-office revenue ranking with the sale of 30.4 billion JPY. The protagonist Chihiro is a girl who enters “the bathhouse”, where the gods assemble and has her parents changed into the pigs. She has her name changed to Sen and grows up as she works in the bathhouse.

“Tales from Earthsea” is the movie released in 2006. The director was Miyazaki Gorou, who is the son of Miyazaki Hayao. This movie delivers a message for survival in the age of chaos through the adventure of a boy called Allen and the master Ghedo.

These 4 movies will be shown in 372 movie theaters around Japan from Jun. 26, 2020.
