What is your “current” most favourite summer 2021 anime? 3rd is “Opera Girl!”, 2nd is “IDOLiSH7: Third Beat!”… The top anime is the anime that was highly anticipated!

The summer 2021 anime consists of a lineup of alluring titles that will help you to enjoy the hot weather.

Previously, Anime! Anime! has conducted a reader’s survey on “Which summer 2021 anime are you looking forward to?”. As we believe that readers may change their minds after the broadcast has started, so the question is which anime do the readers currently favor?

Thus, we have conducted a survey asking, “What is your ‘current’ most favourite summer 2021 anime?”. A total of 355 responses were received during the period from August 1 to August 8.
The gender ratio leans toward the female as approximately 35% are from male while approximately 65% are from female. The age distribution was on the younger side with approximately 45% are from those under twenty, approximately 25% are from those in their twenties .

■The top goes to “Life Lessons with Uramichi Oniisan”, living up to its expectations from before the broadcast

1st place

The 1st place is “Life Lessons with Uramichi Oniisan” with the support rating of approximately 17%.

This work is a black comedy about the main protagonist, Omota Uramichi as the exercise “Onii-san” of the education program. The comments from the readers are “On top of being able to enjoy the shape shifting, beautiful voice of Kamiya Hiroshi, the story is also very interesting!”, “Despite it being dark and surreal, I was able to laugh energetically, making me want to support the characters. The cast members are perfect for the role, and I’m happy that I was also able to listen to the song of Mizuki Nana-san and Miyano Mamoru-san.” The interaction between the voice actors, and the theme song is the reason for its popularity.
As this work has also taken the top place in “Which summer 2021 anime are you looking forward to?”, it was able to live up to its high expectations.

2nd place

The 2nd place is “IDOLiSH7: Third Beat!” with the support rating of approximately 8 %.

For the 3rd season of the popular series, the readers’ comments are “Despite the heavy contents that will make you think of ‘Why are there so much suffering in this idol anime?’, this is still part of the fascination of ‘IDOLiSH7’, which would entertain you”, “I’m really moved by watching the idols trying their best to overcome the obstacles”, and “This work has drained my mentality every week, but I still can’t stop watching it…!”. It seems that many fans are enjoying the development filled with hardship while being anxious.

3rd place

The 3rd place is “Opera Girl!”. The gap between the 2nd place is only by 1 vote.

This work is based on the musical manga that is currently serialized on “MELODY”. It depicts the activities of the young girls of the 100th generation students of Kouka School of Musical and Theatrical Arts as they strive to become future stars.
There were many comments regarding how they were moved by the youth story, such as “This is a classic, passionate shoujo manga. The digging into the mental state is depicted delicately and dramatically” and “The troubles that only appear in the female world are expressed with detail, which makes me absorbed in it.”
This work has moved up greatly from the position in “Which summer 2021 anime are you looking forward to?”.

Also, for the male only ranking, the 1st place is tied between “Opera Girl!” and “Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid S” while the 3rd place is “Remake Our Life!”. For the female only ranking, the 1st place is “Life Lessons with Uramichi Oniisan”, 2nd place is “IDOLiSH7: Third Beat!”, and the 3rd place is “RE-MAIN”.

The feeling of these two have moved my heart every week” and “The background is so beautiful as if I am having a trip to Okinawa”. This shows that there are also votes received for an original anime.
