“The First Slam Dunk” based on the manga “Slam Dunk” will premiere on December 3, 2022. This time, the teaser has been revealed.
“Slam Dunk” is the shonen manga by Inoue Takehiko that was serialized on “Weekly Shonen Jump” from the 1990’s Issue 42 to 1996’s Issue 27.
With the theme of high school basketball, it depicts the humanity grow of the athletes, and this series has more than 120 million copies in circulation in Japan. The nerve-racking depiction of the matches and the characters devoting their youth to basketball have caused a storm within the middle and high school students, which caused this series to be supported by many.
This film was announced by Inoue himself on Twitter in January 2021, which said “Slam Dunk will get a movie”. In August of the same year, the teaser movie and teaser visual were released, and this announcement became a trend on the Internet. With this it can be seen that after 26 years since the serialization has ended in 1996, this series is still being supported by both Japanese fans and the worldwide fans.
This time, a new teaser has been revealed. With the official title of “The First Slam Dunk”, it announced the premiere date, which is on December 3, 2022, as well as a sneak peek of the story.
Also, prior to this announcement, the poster depicting the members of Shohoku High School was on display in the theatres since July 2, and this has shocked all the visitors. Furthermore, the official film’s social network mentioned that one new poster will be uploaded everyday for 5 days in a row. This had caused various feedbacks from the fans, such as “December 3, I need to make time for that no matter what!!”, “I have high expectation toward Slam Dunk film since the poster looks so amazing”, “I have been waiting for this!!”, “Yeaaaa!!! I can’t wait for it!!”, and “To think you had kept us waiting for 26 years… tears”.
