The TV anime “Requiem of the Rose King” will be broadcast for two consecutive seasons starting in January 2022. At the same time, the key visual and teaser PV were released for the first time. The main cast was also announced, with comments from Saiga Mitsuki (Richard), Midorikawa Hikaru (Henry), and Hayami Show (Richard, Duke of York).

“Requiem of the Rose King” is a dark fantasy based on the manga by Kanno Aya, which is serialized in “Princess Monthly”. It is a dark fantasy based on Shakespeare’s historical plays “Henry VI” and “Richard III”. Set in medieval England during the Wars of the Roses, when the two houses of York (the White Rose) and Lancaster (the Red Rose) are repeatedly battling for the throne, the story follows Richard, the third son of the York family, who is of both sexes, as s/he is led to a cruel fate.

It has now been announced that the TV anime, which will air for two consecutive seasons starting in January 2022, will follow the story to its conclusion.

The cast includes Saiga Mitsuki as Richard, the third son of the York family, Midorikawa Hikaru as Henry, a mysterious young man who calls himself a shepherd, and Hayami Show as Richard, Duke of York, the father of Richard and his three brothers.

In addition, Toriumi Kosuke plays Edward, the eldest son of the York family, Takumi Yasuaki plays George, the second son of the York family, Mikami Satoshi plays Earl Warwick, the chief advisor to Richard, Duke of York, Hino Satoshi plays Catesby, Richard’s caretaker, Ohara Sayaka plays Queen Margaret, the mother of Prince Edward and the queen consort of King Henry VI, Amasaki Kohei plays King Edward’s son, and Otsuka Hochu as the narrator.

●How did you feel when you were chosen to be in “Requiem of the Rose King”?
I knew Richard from a drama CD a few years ago (lol), but I never thought I’d be able to walk through the story with him! I remember how happy I was when I heard about it.

●Please give a message to the fans who are looking forward to the anime.
I’ll do my best to add more color to the wonderful world that Kanno-san has created! Also, the voices and performances of my co-stars are always a hit for me, so I hope you’ll look forward to it!

●How did you feel when you were chosen to be in “Requiem of the Rose King”?
I remember when I was a child, my mother influenced me to watch an anime about the French Revolution with her, and I was completely addicted to it (lol). I’m very happy to be involved in this project because there aren’t many works with that kind of worldview♪ I’ll be walking through the turbulent times as Henry.

For those who know the original story, and even for those who don’t, this is a work that you should definitely watch. It was so interesting that when I started reading the original story, I was so curious about what was going to happen next that I ended up reading the latest story in no time. I was really happy when I found out that I would be in the epic drama set in the War of the Roses.
And my role is the Duke of York. I’m going to play with grace and love.
