The Tokyo venue of “Sanrio Exhibition: 60 Years of Kawaii Culture in Japan,” a major exhibition that unravels the history of Sanrio’s 60th anniversary, will be held at Tokyo City View on the 52nd floor of Roppongi Hills Mori Tower from September 17, 2021. Aoi Shota, who voiced the audio guide for the exhibition, has sent us a comment, and the latest information on the collaboration cafe and original goods has also been released.
“Sanrio Exhibition: 60 Years of Kawaii Culture in Japan” will feature over 800 character products, the largest number in Sanrio’s history, as well as valuable original drawings and documents. In 2020, Sanrio will celebrate its 60th anniversary, and this exhibition will allow visitors to experience all the charm of Sanrio by unraveling the history of the company and learning about the origins and development of Japan’s “kawaii” culture.
Aoi Shota, who voiced the audio guide for the exhibition, said, “As the audio guide navigator for the Sanrio exhibition, I would like to trace the history of Sanrio together with you. I myself have been associated with Sanrio for a long time, so I am very honored. It was also announced that Takakuwa Hideki, the former editor-in-chief of Sanrio’s monthly newspaper “Ichigo Shinbun”, will make a special appearance in the audio guide.
In addition, at the Tokyo venue, Masuda Sebastian’s entrance exhibit “Unforgettable Tower” has been scaled up with additional lighting effects. The cafes and restaurants will offer collaboration sweets, food, and mocktails (non-alcoholic cocktails) inspired by the characters’ favorite foods and motifs, and new goods such as “square acrylic keychains”, “triple acrylic keychains”, and “handle bags” will be sold.
The Tokyo venue of the “Sanrio Exhibition: 60 Years of Kawaii Culture in Japan” is scheduled to run from September 17, 2021 to January 10, 2022.
