“Rilakkuma and the Amusement Park,” a Netflix original series that will be the new stop motion animation of “Rilakkuma,” has been announced for production.
Netflix is distributing “Rilakkuma and Kaoru-san,” the first “Rilakkuma” stop-motion animation, exclusively on Netflix worldwide from April 2019.
The work ranked second in the “Top 10 Most Watched Series on Netflix in 2019 (Japan)” and was nominated for Best Director of Television and Media Film (Best (Direction-TV/Media) in the “47th Annie Awards”, also known as the “Oscars of the Animation World”.
“Rilakkuma and the Amusement Park” follows on from this, with Kaoru (voice: Tabe Mikako) and the Rilakkumas going out to play at an amusement park that is about to close. It is a new series with 8 episodes, each about 10 minutes in length, about incidents that take place in an amusement park that is about to close and the encounters between the people involved.
It was announced that director Kobayashi Masahito will continue to direct, and T.Y.O. Dwarf will produce the series.
