“Ahoge” (idiot hair) is a well-known hairstyle among the fans, where a noticeable slim forelock of hair sticks straight up from a character’s head.

Not only is it a trademark for the character, but it also gives a huge impression to the audiences such as it moves according to the character’s emotion or holds a special power. Among them, who is the most popular?

Thus, Anime! Anime! had conducted the reader survey called “Which character reminds you of their ‘Ahoge’?”. A total of 298 responses were received from the survey period of Sep. 1 until Sep. 6.
The gender ratio are about 35% for guys and about 65% for women, who is the majority. The age distribution leans toward the youngster, where about 50% from aged 19 and below, and about 30% from 20’s.

1st Place
The first place was Kamui from “Gintama” with the supporting rate of about 10%.

Kamui has the same red hair as his younger sister, Kagura. There was a reader’s comments about his “Ahoge” trait that is similar to his mother Kouka, “The hair that was inheritedfrom his mother is his trait”.
There were also various readers’ comments regarding about his trait that calm down a serious scene, such as “Despite there was a dreadful presence behind the smile, but the ‘Ahoge’ make Kamui look so cute,” and “I like the gap on how he is quite strong and the fact that he had an ‘Ahoge’.”

2nd Place
The second place was Araragi Koyomi from “Monogatari” with the supporting rate of about 8%.

Regarding the main protagonist of “Monogatari” series, Araragi Koyomi, there was a lot of readers’ comment on the various appearance by his “Ahoge”, such as “It’s like his ‘Ahoge’ has a mind of itself since it is able to move freely. As there were a lot of scenes that only shows his ‘Ahoge’ or only his moving ‘Ahoge’, it’s as if that ‘Ahoge’ is the main body instead…”, and “The ‘Ahoge’ moves according to the emotions!”

3rd place
The third place was Saber from “Fate/stay night” with the supporting rate of about 7%.
“Even in the anime, game and figure, the blonde ‘Ahoge’ that sticks straight out always caught my attention,” which said that the hairstyle of Saber was depicted precisely regardless of the media.

“It is because her hair that is moving causally is cute when she is having the meals prepared by Shirou in ‘Today’s MENU for the EMIYA Family’,” “I still remember how she pulls out her ‘Ahoge’ in ‘Carnival Phantasm’ and become Saber Alter”, etc., this shows that her “Ahoge” is still going strong in the other series.
