From the TV anime “Shin Sakura Taisen the Animation” (“New Sakura Wars the Animation”) (scheduled to be broadcast in Apr. 2020), info regarding the characters of the new Flower Division “Moscow Combat Revue” have been released.
In addition, comments from the voice actors Watada Misaki, Akabane Kenji, and Shiraishi Haruka, as well as the character designer Mika Pikazo, mechanic designer Akitaka Mika, and director Ono Manabu were revealed.

“Project Sakura Wars the Animation” is an animated version of the new dramatic 3D action-adventure game “Project Sakura Wars”, which depicts the role of the “Imperial Combat Revue” fighting demons during a fictional Taishou era, with the capital Tokyo as the main setting.
The new story of “Project Sakura Wars” revolves around the protagonist, Amamiya Sakura who has become the replacement captain of the “Imperial Combat Revue Flower Division”.

The new “Moscow Combat Revue” had been suggested to appear since the release of “Project Sakura Wars the Animation”. Watada Misaki will be voicing Clara, the sole survivor of the “Moscow Combat Revue”, Akabane Kenji will play the role of Valery Kaminski, the captain of the “Moscow Combat Revue”, and Shiraishi Haruka will be voicing Leila, a mysterious girl who follows Kaminsky.

I'm Watada Misaki, the voice of Clara in “Project Sakura Wars the Animation”! When my role in the sequel of “Sakura Wars” was decided, I shared tears of joy with the other staff members…!

A girl named Clara who was taken by captain Kamiyama, suddenly appears in front of Sakura and the others. Enjoy the story that is waiting for the Flower Division, along with the wonderful songs…! Whether you are a fan of the first series or a first-time player of the “Project Sakura Wars” game, please watch the new TV anime “Project Sakura Wars the Animation”!

[“Valery Kaminski” / Akabane Kenji]

I will be playing the role of Valery Kaminski as captain of the Moscow Combat Revue. When I was a student, after watching “Sakura Wars Activity Photos” and realizing a lot of stuff of “Sakura Wars”, I had never expected to voice a captain of the series…!
I'm very surprised and happy to play Kaminsky, he is a gentleman, and also a little bit eccentric (laugh). Please enjoy both the game and the anime!

[“Leila” / Shiraishi Haruka]

Regarding my character Leila, it was very hard to express her shaking feelings since she continues to struggle and suffer from something.
I think she is a character you should keep an eye on as the story progresses, so please watch it! What will be Leila's final choice…? Enjoy the broadcast!

[“Moscow Combat Revue” character design / Mika Pikazo]

I'm Mika Pikazo, who was in charge of the character design for “Moscow Combat Revue”. When I first learned about Sakura Wars when I was a student, it was widely known as a legendary game in the world, and I was impressed by the enthusiastic excitement showed in, along with the cuteness of the characters, and the charm of many songs.

The characters of “Moscow Combat Revue” appearing in “Project Sakura Wars”, are all characters carrying both shady and bright sides of their personality that can not be described in a single word. Each of them puts an effort into something, and you can also feel their great charm and backbone emerging suddenly from their expressions.

I designed them while reflecting on how to express such a unique characters. I'm really looking forward to seeing how they will be related to the protagonists, and what kind of thoughts they will knock on against each other.

[Mechanic Design / Akitaka Mika]

After the PS4 game, I have designed a new model for the TV anime version. It has been created only for the Moscow Combat Revue which appears for the first time in the series. Director Ono wanted to give it a bird-like image, making it a very unusual model. Please watch “Project Sakura Wars the Animation”!

While being happy to be able to play a part in this new start of the historical title, “Sakura Wars”, I also feel great pressure. However, during the meeting with the team responsible for the game version “Project Sakura Wars”, I was touched by the love and passion everyone from Sega feels towards “Sakura Wars”. At that moment, I felt the same love in my heart.
Speaking of “Sakura Wars”, it is full of intense battles, friendship, and romance. The core is a hot-blooded drama while there are also comical scenes. I would like to express the same feeling of “Sakura Wars” in the anime as well. Then, look forward to the April broadcast!
