A new “Higurashi When They Cry” anime project has been announced. Character designs are by Watanabe Akio from the “Monogatari” series, animation by Passione, known for their works on “Wasteful Days of High School Girls” and “Highschool DxD HERO”, and will be produced by Infinite.
“Higurashi When They Cry” is originally a horror mystery novel game by Ryukishi07/07th Expansion. The story is set in the early summer of Showa 58 （1983), a mysterious event happens in a lonely village, Hinamizawa-mura. The first season of the TV anime was aired in 2006 followed by a second season, OVA, live-action film, TV series, etc.
There has been no announcement other than the main staff of the new project of “Higurashi When They Cry”. Let's look forward to further information.
