From “A Certain Scientific Railgun T”, a refreshing drink inspired by protagonist Misaka Mikoto’s signature move, the “Railgun,” has been introduced as a return gift for the hometown tax program in Kawai Town, Kitakatsuragi District, Nara Prefecture. The drink, titled “Mikoto’s Railgun Strike – Explosive Spicy Flavor”, is now available.
“A Certain Scientific Railgun” is a spin-off of Kamachi Kazuma’s light novel “A Certain Magical Index”, featuring manga illustrated by Fuyukawa Motoi and an anime adaptation. The anime, produced by J.C.STAFF, began airing its first season in 2009, followed by the second season, “A Certain Scientific Railgun S”, in 2013, and the third season, “A Certain Scientific Railgun T”, in 2020.
The story takes place in Academy City, where 80% of the 2.3 million residents are students undergoing esper development experiments. Among them, Misaka Mikoto, ranked third among the seven most powerful espers (Level 5), is known as “Railgun.” The series follows her as she uses her electrifying abilities and strong personality to confront various incidents occurring within Academy City.
The new drink, “Mikoto’s Railgun Strike – Explosive Spicy Flavor”, reflects Misaka Mikoto’s kindness with a white peach aroma and the sheer power of her Railgun attack with a spicy chili flavor. Despite its sweet fragrance, it delivers a fiery kick, making it a unique caffeinated nutritional drink. The caffeine content is set at 161mg, a nod to Misaka Mikoto’s height of 161cm.
The donation amount for the “Mikoto’s Railgun Strike – Explosive Spicy Flavor” set (10 bottles) in Kawai Town’s hometown tax program is 12,000 JPY. More details can be found on application pages such as Furusato Choice, Furunavi, and Rakuten Ichiba.
