West Japan’s largest manga/anime event “Kyo Mafu 2023” will be held on September 16 and 17!

“Kyoto International Manga / Anime Fair 2023” (a.k.a. “Kyo Mafu 2023”), west Japan’s largest manga/anime event, will be held on September 16 and 17. This year’s event will be held with plenty of content such as collaboration projects with popular titles, exhibition booths, and stage events.

“Kyoto Mafu” started in 2012 intending to expand the market for the content industry in the Kansai region centered on Kyoto by “creating new business opportunities utilizing manga and anime”, “creating support for creators training and job opportunities”, “attracting more tourists such as young people and foreigners”, and “improving the brand power of Kyoto as a content city by disseminating manga and anime culture overseas.”
Not only has it become a big event with a lot of visitors in addition to manga/anime/game fans, but also it is now one of the biggest events in Kyoto that promote the industry by supporting creators and attracting more production companies to be established in Kyoto. This year marks the 12th anniversary.

At “Miyako Messe” and “ROHM Theater Kyoto”, which are the main venues of “Kyo Mafu,” various projects will be held, such as exhibition booths of manga/anime/game, stage events with popular voice actors, and the Kyo Mafu shop to distribute official goods. In addition, there will be a “Traditional Craft Experience Workshop” where you can try unique Kyoto activities, a character cafe where you can enjoy drinks and food in collaboration with popular anime and manga, and a popular cosplay area.

Furthermore, booth and stage exhibitors will be invited from “content companies related to manga, anime, game, etc.”, “contents production companies utilizing advanced technologies such as Metaverse, XR, NFT, etc.”, “companies, universities, and vocational schools related to the development of content human resources”. Applications will be accepted from May 12 to Jun 12, so the companies, universities, and vocational schools that want to promote its own titles and products or sell merchandise at “Kyo Maf” should definitely submit an inquiry.

“Kyoto International Manga / Anime Fair 2023” (a.k.a. “Kyo Mafu 2023”) will be held on September 16 and 17 at “Miyako Messe”, “ROHM Theater Kyoto”, and Kyoto International Manga Museum. Please visit the official website for more details.
