The original “SLAM DUNK” is a basketball manga by Inoue Takehiko that was serialized in 1990 42nd issue to 1996 27th issue of “Weekly Shonen Jump”. The series has sold over 120 million copies nationwide. New “SLAM DUNK” was depicted in the movie “THE FIRST SLAM DUNK” released on December 3, 2022. The movie was directed by Inoue Takehiko, and realistic animations were realized with the technology of motion capture and 3DCG, as if the manga pictures had been put directly into motion.
“CGWORLD +digitalvideo” Vol.298 thoroughly features the production process of “THE FIRST SLAM DUNK”.
It follows Inoue Kazuhiko pursuing the reality of basketball to discussion by production manager with detailed items and massive volume of 2 pages of “Feature Door”, 6 pages of “Conte / MoCap / Previz”, 6 pages of “Character Rigging”, 10 pages of “Animation”, 6 pages of “Simulation & Effects”, 8 pages of “LookDev / Composite”, 4 pages of “Pipeline / Tool”, 4 pages of “PM Group Interview”.
