On March 9, the editorial team of “Gessan” announced on its official Twitter account that the rom-com manga “Teasing Master Takagi-san” will get a live-action adaptation. Imaizumi Rikiya, who will direct the film, also expressed his enthusiasm via his Twitter account.

“Teasing Master Takagi-san” is an adolescent rom-com manga by Yamamoto Souichirou, currently serialized in “Gessan.”
The story depicts the daily life of Nishikata, a boy who is teased by Takagi-san, a girl who sits next to him in a junior high school classroom. Even though Nishikata tries to tease her back, Takagi-san always manages to see through his attempts. The comic series has been a huge hit, selling over 11 million copies in total. The latest volume 19 was released on March 10, 2023.

The series has received many cross-media adaptations, with the first TV anime broadcasted in 2018, the second one in 2019, and the third anime and an anime film released in 2022.

On March 9, the Twitter account of “Gessan Editorial Office” announced, “【Teasing Master Takagi-san Lve-Action!】‘Takagi-san’ will be adapted into a live-action film.” The comment continued as such: “The April issue, which goes on sale tomorrow, March 10, will have a feature page with comments from director Imaizumi Rikiya and the author Yamamoto Souichirou. Further information will be announced in Gessan as it becomes available, so we ask you for your continuous attention.”

Director Imaizumi, who will be directing the live-action adaptation this time, is a film creator who has also directed the live-action adaptation of “Chihiro-san,” a comic written by Yasuda Hiroyuki (currently distributed worldwide on Netflix.)
On the same day, Imaizumi announced on Twitter that he would be directing the live-action adaptation of the comic “Teasing Master Takagi-san,” saying, “Whether it is love, more than friends or pure friendship, I hope to depict the precious moments of their “relationship that cannot be labeled,” along with the beautiful scenery and the two characters who are living their lives. Junior high school students are precious. Please look forward to it.”

Details regarding the cast and broadcast format of the live-action version of “Teasing Master Takagi-san” are yet to be announced. Stay tuned for more information.
