“Slam Dunk” What’s motivates Inoue Takehiko to challenge the film creation? Includes the one-shot “Pierce”! Announcement of the publication

“The First Slam Dunk re:Source” summarizes the hand drawn illustrations and words of the creator of the film “The First Slam Dunk” Inoue Takehiko, and the release date is on December 15, 2022. It contains the 15 thousand words interview with Inoue and the one-shot “Pierce” that is not included in any manga volume.

“Slam Dunk” is the shonen manga by Inoue Takehiko that was serialized in “Weekly Shonen Jump” from the 1990’s Issue 42 to 1996’s Issue 27. With the theme of high school basketball, it depicts the humane growth of the athletes, and it was a big hit with more than 120 million copies in circulation in Japan alone.
“The First Slam Dunk” is the animated film of that popular manga, and it was premiered in Japan’s theatres from December 3, 2022.

One of the major reasons for the tremendous perfection in the creation of the film “The First Slam Dunk” is the tremendous amounts of “illustrations” and “words” by Inoue Takehiko that serve as a visual sharing with the production staff. Normally those “illustrations” and “words” are not revealed publicly, but the release of the “The First Slam Dunk re:Source”, which contains plentiful of those “illustrations” and “words” along with an analysis on it, is now announced.

This publication contains the long interview with Inoue with approximately 15 thousand words. The interview will focus on his thoughts on the motivation to challenge on the film creation, his feeling to the “Slam Dunk” fans, his thought after the production is completed, and others.
It will also contain the mystical one-shot “Pierce”, which serves as the foundation of the story of the character Miyagi Ryouta in the film, for the first time. Other than that, the posters from the film announcement until the premiere, and the teaser visuals will also be contained in this publication.
