“Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury” is the latest series of the Mobile Suit Gundam series after a blank of 7 years. The story is set in the age “A.S. (Ad Stella) 122”, where multiple companies go out to space to create an economic zone, and the story begins when a student from outlying planet Mercury called Suletta Mercury transfers to the Asticcasia School of Technology Pilot Profession, a school run by the largest mobile suit production company Beneritt Group.

In episode 5 “Reflection in an Icy Eye”, Pale Technology uses Elan to find out the secret of Aerial. Suletta wonders why Elan acts nice to her, and one day she receives an invitation for a date…
The background of Elan is gradually revealed in the episode 5. Elan is the enhanced human soldier created only to use the mobile suits, and Pale Tech. employees called him “Enhanced Human #4”. Elan was interested in Suletta simply because he thought Suletta was the same enhanced human soldier like him.
Suletta decides a goal for the date is to “ask for Elan’s birthday”. Suletta then lends her Aerial during the date with Elan, but he drastically changes his attitude when he gets off from the mobile suit and says, “You aren’t the same as me”.
The reaction from the fans is both positive and negative. One comment said, “Elan looked like a fresh handsome guy, but he actually has a dependent personality, while Guel, who looked extremely bossy, was actually a man who could risk his life to fight for a lady whom he loved”, while other comments said, “Elan misunderstood that Suletta was his partner and acted nicely, but later he felt betrayed and disappointed. That is the form of human emotions”.
Episode 6 will show the battle between Elan and Suletta fighting over the ownership of Aerial.
