The latest 103rd volume of “ONE PIECE” was released on August 4, 2022, and the total number of manga sold worldwide exceeded 500 million copies. With this, it broke the Guinness World Record registered as the “most copies published for the same comic book series by a single author”.

“ONE PIECE” is one of Japan’s most popular manga series since Oda Eiichiro started its serialization in “Weekly Shonen Jump” in 1997. The story follows the epic adventures of the “Straw Hat Pirates” led by the hero Monkey D. Luffy over the “Ultimate Treasure: One Piece” left by the legendary “Pirate King” Gol D. Roger.

The TV animation series started in October 1999 and aired its 1,000th episode on November 21, 2021.
On August 6, 2022, “ONEPIECE FILM RED,” the latest movie of the story of Shanks’ daughter Uta, will be released in theaters, and the Netflix original live-action drama series “One Piece” is also scheduled to be streamed.

With this, “ONE PIECE” and Oda Eiichiro broke the Guinness World Record registered at the end of December 2014 as the “most copies published for the same comic book series by a single author”.
As “ONE PIECE” enters its final chapter, it will be interesting to see how far it can take the record.
