“Sword Art Online: Progressive -Scherzo of Deep Night-“, the second film from the “Progressive” series which traces the origin of “Sword Art Online”, has been set for release on September 10, 2022. The first key visual was also unveiled.
“Sword Art Online (SAO)” is based on the novel series of the same title written by Reki Kawahara, which won the grand prize of the “15th Dengeki Novel Award” and has sold more than 30 million copies worldwide.
Set in the next-generation VRMMORPG “Sword Art Online,” the story follows the adventures of the main character Kirito and the heroine Asuna.
Starting with the release of the first volume of the original novel in April 2009, the series has developed a wide range of works across media, including the four TV anime series started in 2012 and “Sword Art Online the Movie -Ordinal Scale-” released in 2017.
A new animated film project “Sword Art Online Progressive” started in 2021, rebuilding the trajectory of “SAO” from the first layer of “Aincrad”, the beginning of the whole story of “SAO”, from Asuna’s perspective.
It has been announced that the second film “Scherzo of Deep Night”, the sequel to the first film “Aria of a Starless Night”, will be released on September 10, 2020.
Along with the announcement, the first key visual with Kirito, Asuna, Argo, and others has also been unveiled.
Sword Art Online the Movie: Progressive -Scherzo of Deep Night-” will be released on September 10.
In addition, a special program commemorating the 10th anniversary of the anime series, “TV anime ‘SWORD ART ONLINE’ 10th Anniversary COUNTDOWN!” will start on July 1 at midnight. More information about the movie will be announced as well as the details of “SAO SELECTION”, which will start airing on July 9.
