Ukiyo-e featuring “Lupin III Castle Of Cagliostro will be on sale in a limited quantity on the official online shop by TMS Entertainment, “TMS SHOP”. Memorable scenes of Lupin and Clarisse will be recreated with the items.
To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the anime “Lupin III”, Ukiyo-e* of “Lupin III Castle Of Cagliostro” has been announced. The lineup consists of Lupin, Clarisse, and Lupin&Clarisse. For the announced Ukiyo-e, the printing is handled by Matsuzaki Keizaburo, who has engaged in various Ukiyo-e for 70 years, including the “One Hundred Famous Views of Edo” series, the masterpiece by Utagawa Hiroshige that was largely completed by his death, and other reprinted editions of Bijin-ga and Kaido series, while painting was handled by Nagai Saeko, who has been in charge of the Ukiyo-e edition of “Sapporo Illumination Yakei”, the reprinted edition of “Komagata-gashi” by Kawase Hasui, and modern Ukiyo-e of “Star Wars” and other works, which caused a stir.
*Ukiyo-e: a style of Japanese woodblock print and painting that flourished from the 17th through 19th centuries.
Different frames have been selected for the set of 3 and each single piece, coloring the scenes and characters. Each item is limited in 100 pieces and comes with a serial-numbered plate and certificate. The prices are as follows: set of 3 – 198,000 JPY (incl. tax), Lupin&Clarisse – 92,400 JPY (incl. tax), Lupin/Clarisse – 52,800 JPY (incl. tax) each.
Furthermore, “Junjo-zuri” will also be available as a set on a made-to-order basis. “Junjo-zuri (lit. printing in order)” shows how “Hangi (woodblock)” with “Kotsusen”, which is a characteristic contour of Ukiyo-e, carved on, and the finished woodblock will be differentiated, and how the colors are added in order.
The Hangi will come in an acrylic case and 62 pieces of Junjo-zuri will come in a paulownia box. This item includes the set of 3 “Castle Of Cagliostro” paintings as well. The price is 1,980,000 (incl. tax).
