From the “Black Rock Shooter” franchise, a new anime project titled “Black Rock Shooter: Dawn Fall” was launched. In celebration, the series creator Huke, released visual and commented on the reveal of the new project.

The “Black Rock Shooter” series is based on a original character illustration created by Huke first posted on the site “pixiv” and huke’s personal blog on December 26, 2007.
Inspired by the illustration, Ryo from the band Supercell created a song based on the character, which then featured new footage created by huke himself on the music video. Titled “Black Rock Shooter”, the video was uploaded on the streaming site “Nico Nico Video” on June 13, 2008, rapidly gaining popularity, and as of September 2021, it has accumulated more than 7.5 million views in total.

The music video eventually spawned into a media franchise which includes animations, comics, goods, and figures, gathering a large fanbase inside Japan and all over the world. On December 26, 2017, Huke unveiled a new illustration commemorating the series 10th anniversary, which gathered a lot of attention and was later turned into a popular scaled figure, released in December 2020.

In light of the announcement of “Black Rock Shooter: Dawn Fall”, Huke unveiled a visual of the new series entry and commented: “When I first heard about the new Black Rock Shooter, I was like, a new anime?! seriously!? I had the exact same reaction as most of the fans out there. I was very surprised when they first approached me to talk about it.“
