As a countdown project to the upcoming “Sword Art Online” film, ABEMA will offer marathon streaming of the TV anime series for free every week starting on September 2, 2021.
“Sword Art Online”(SAO) is anime television series based on a light novel written by Kawahara Reki that received popularity with more than 26 million copies in circulation. The story is set in a fictitious world of the next-generation online-game and follows the protagonist Kirito playing a major role. Since the heroic story that game over leads to actual death and extremely powerful action-scenes received much acclaim, a total of 4 TV anime series has been broadcast after Season 1 was released in July 2012.
On October 30, 2021, “Sword Art Online Progressive: Aria of a Starless Night” will be released featuring the story that depicts “Aincrad”, which is the starting point of the series, from the heroine Asuna’s point of view, and it is attracting a lot of attention from the fans.
As a countdown project to the upcoming film, marathon streaming of the “Sword Art Online” series will be available on “ABEMA Anime 2 Channel” of “ABEMA”.
Starting on September 2, 2021, “Sword Art Online”, “Sword Art Online II”, “Sword Art Online: Alicization”, and “Sword Art Online: Alicization -War of Underworld-” will be streamed on every Thursday and Friday for 8 weeks in a row. Moreover, “Aincrad”, which is the stage of the upcoming film will be streamed on October 29, a day before the release.
