“Ryoma! Rebirth: The Prince of Tennis Movie”, the very first 3D animated film from the “The Prince of Tennis” series, will hit the big screen on September 3.
This time, it was announced that the film will feature 40 new illustrations depicting the characters after the All-Japan National Tournament, drawn by the original manga creator Konomi Takeshi, who is also the production supervisor for the movie. The illustrations will be appearing during the end credits and also be distributed as a bonus postcard to the spectators.
Named “‘Ryoma! Rebirth: The Movie’ Ending Credits Illustration ★ Surprise Manga Postcard”, the postcard illustration set features the characters after the All-Japan National Tournament, which took place on the last arc of the “The Prince of Tennis”. The colored illustrations beautifully portray Ryoma and his friends during the events of the three-month time period between the events at the end of the The Prince of Tennis manga and the start of The New Prince of Tennis manga, which serves as the background for the film’s plot.
Printed as bonus postcards, all of the 40 illustrations were exclusively drawn by Konomi. Celebrating the release of the film, each week 10 different illustrated postcards will be distributed throughout a 4 week period. Spectators will receive at random one postcard at the theater venues. These are a must have item for the most avid fans.
Among the 40 illustrations, 8 of them, including one in which Ryoma is present, were unveiled. In the illustration the characters are shown in various situations: the pairs from Seigaku, Momoshiro & Kaido, and Oishi & Kikumaru; the three childhood friends, Shishido, Akutagawa, and Mukai, from Hyotei; Yagyu & Nio from Rikkai; Sengoku from Yamabuki; Akazawa & Kaneda from St. Rudolph; and finally the Fudomine members tossing Tachibana into the air.
Every illustration is full of playful nuances that characterize Konomi’s art style, a real treat for the fans. Further details regarding the film will be announced on the franchise’s official YouTube channel during a livestream titled “New Prince of Tennis Anime Official Channel’s Happy Summer Valentine Super Ultra Edition 2021 SP” on August 14.
Alongside the program block “ Ryoma Rebirth Movie Celebration ‘The Prince of Tennis All-Japan Tournament Arc’ Selection” currently being broadcast by TV Tokyo, a special TV Show will also air in 2 parts, one before, and the other after the release of the movie, starring the voice actors for the characters Foo and Boo, Takeuchi Shunsuke, and Takeuchi Ryoma.
