On August 2, 2021, the Comic Market Preparation Committee announced that “Comic Market 99” will be held at the East, West and South Exhibition Halls of Tokyo Big Sight from December 30 to 31, 2021.
“Comic Market (a.k.a. Comiket) will be held at the East, West and South Exhibition Halls of Tokyo Big Sight from December 30 to 31, 2021. Comiket 98, which was scheduled to be held during Golden Week 2020, was cancelled, and Comiket 99, which was scheduled for December, was postponed until May 2021. After that, it was announced that Comiket 99 would be postponed for the second time in May.
On August 2, the Comiket Preparatory Committee announced on its official website that the new date for “Comiket 99” would be December 30-31, and added, “Although there are still many uncertainties and the pandemic is still ongoing, considering the time required for various preparations such as circle applications and placement, we thought it would be best to announce that we are on the move now to prepare for holding of Comic Market 99 in the winter of 2021 (hereinafter referred to as “New C99”).
They also mentioned, “We have been considering whether or not to hold the new C99 while watching how widely effective the vaccination is, but the timing of the announcement of the C99 has become such because the infectious disease spread rapidly at a time when we were able to confirm the effects of the vaccine. We are making this announcement based on the understanding that the social situation is expected to improve in the next few months,” and also they added, “However, as I mentioned in the previous announcement of C99, if the social situation does not improve due to vaccinations and other factors, we cannot deny the possibility of further postponements. However, considering the situation in the world of doujinshi as a whole, we are aiming to hold the event. If we don’t get to move on, we will never be able to hold an ‘event’ called the Comic Market.”
“Comic Market 99” will be held at the East, West and South Exhibition Halls of Tokyo Big Sight from December 30 to 31, 2021.
