Which anime do you want to watch during summer? The third place was “Anohana”, the 2nd was “Summer Wars”…A comment for the top place said, “I want to swim together” 【#Watermelon Day】

July 27 is “Watermelon Day”.

As the watermelon’s pattern looks like that of a rope, July 27 has been decided to be the day from the sound, “Natsu (7) no tsuna (27)” (summer rope).

There are many anime that are good for summer. They often depict summer vacation scenes, have impressive summer skies, or may be broadcast during summer vacation.

Here at Anime!Anime, we conducted the survey titled, “Which anime do you want to watch during summer” from July 9 to 16. 139 people answered the survey, female readers made up the majority with 70%, while male readers made up approximately 30%. For the age group, minors made up approximately 55%, while 20’s made up about 30%.

■The top anime was swimming anime “Free!”

The 1st place was “Free!”. The support rating was about 12%.

The comments for this anime said, “the description of the swimming characters and the splash of water are so realistic. The anime often makes me feel that I want to swim with the protagonist, Nanase Haruka” and “The body structure of the characters is beautiful and it is so fresh and good for summer”.
Some readers mentioned the broadcast season, “All seasons of this anime were all started from July. Official also cares about starting this in summer”.

Part 1 of the movie “Free! -the Final Stroke” begins from September 17. The hot end of summer will be blown away with this fresh movie.

2nd Place

The 2nd place was “Summer Wars”. The support rating was approximately 10%.

“Summer Wars” is the long running original title of the director Hosoda Mamoru.
“A major incident is the beginning of the story, which started at the home of a senior student whom the protagonist admired. Since the event of this anime ‘happens once during one certain summer’, so I want to watch the anime during summer”, the comment said. The broadcast on “Friday Roadshow” during the voting period enhanced the popularity, and some comments mentioned “Belle”, which is the latest work by the director Hosoda.

3rd Place

The 3rd place was “Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day”. The support rating was approximately 7%.

This is a youthful story of 6 childhood friends, who got separated in the past for some reason. “Each character’s trouble are nicely described through the anime, and each supports the sadness of the story. The ending theme song, ‘secret base~Kimi ga Kureta Mono~’ makes my heart tighten up”.
Also, this anime marks the 10th anniversary in 2021, and many projects are currently going on.

■Introducing other comments!

To “Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi”: “Endless Eight, the name of the episode that repeats summer over and over, is impressive. All 8 episodes have the same flow of the story, but their yukata and swimsuits were changed every time, so you can enjoy it 8 times.”

To “Big Windup!”: “Practice scenes of high school baseball players, their games, and human relationships are all nostalgic, and made me jealous of it. This anime always makes me think that if I were serious enough toward the club activity and teammates like Mitsubashi and Abe.”

To “Weather with You”: “Freshness that you feel when looking at the sky after the rain was so nice. I want to spend one summer like the one in the movie.”

To “My Neighbor Totoro”: “I like the energy of summer and relaxing atmosphere of the rural area. A cucumber that Satsuki and Natsuki ate seemed tasty” and “I want to eat summer vegetables grown by grandma”.

Many anime set in summer ranked high in this ranking. Many anime did have memorable scenes of beach and water.
