Fullmetal Alchemist: 20th Anniversary Project! Exhibition, special program, author’s latest work announced

Shonen Gangan August issue (released on July 12th) announced a commemorative project for the 20th anniversary of Fullmetal Alchemist. The announcement includes ‘Fullmetal Alchemist the Exhibition Returns’, the author Hiromu Arakawa’s latest work, and new information about the anime and manga series.

Fullmetal Alchemist is a popular manga series that has sold over 80 million copies around the world. The serialization started on Shonen Gangan on July 12th, 2001. This year, on July 12th, the series marks its 20th anniversary.

As a commemorative project, ‘Fullmetal Alchemist the Exhibition Returns’ has been announced. The exhibition will be an upgraded version of the popular ‘Fullmetal Alchemist the Exhibition’, which was held from 2017 to 2019. It will start in December 2021 with two locations: Tokyo and Osaka. Along with the announcement, the key visual by the author Hiromu Arakawa has been released. The author re-produced the monochrome illustration that he drew 20 years ago for the serialization announcement.

The serialization of the author’s latest work has also been announced. There will be more information to be announced on Shonen Gangan, Gangan Official Website, and Twitter.

In addition, there will be a 20th-anniversary special program on July 12th. Cast including Romi Park (voice actor of Edward Elric) and Rie Kugimiya (voice actor of Alphonse Elric) looks back on the memories and the attractions of the series. The special program will stream on YouTube Live and Shonen Gangan Twitter account at 8 pm. It is a must-see program for fans, so be sure not to miss it.

There are also other new information provided along with the announcement, such as the production of ‘Fullmetal Alchemist 20th anniversary book’ and free streaming of the TV anime series ‘Fullmetal Alchemist’ episode 1 to 3. The streaming will be available on YouTube for a limited time from July 16th to July 29th.
There will also be a revival serialization on ‘Manga UP!’ and ‘Gangan ONLINE’, and the first volume of the digital manga will be available for free until July 29th. Also, some stores have a 30% off sales for the whole volume. This will be a great opportunity for fans to re-read the original manga.
