Excluding a few theater locations, the screening of “Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time” will end on July 21, 2021. As the film enjoys its last spurt, two celebratory events were announced; an online special livestream titled “Operation 0706 Continued”, and a stage greeting event in which Anno Hideaki is set to appear.
Preceded by “Evangelion: 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone”, “Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance”, and “Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo”, “Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time” is the fourth and final installment in the “Rebuild of Evangelion” film series that started in 2007. On July 1 the film completed 116 days of run since it was first released, earning over 9.5 billion yen in the box office and having more than 6.3 million tickets sold.
Except for a minority of locations, the film was announced to be leaving theaters on July 21.
Just like its antecedent event “Operation 0706” held on July 6, 2019, the special livestream “Operation 0706 Continued” was conceived to deliver a delightful experience for fans of the series on the date July 6th.
The stream will premiere on Khara’s Youtube channel, and it will be divided into two parts. The first part will show the opening scenes of “Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time”, which is the longest film in the series, followed by a 1-minute behind-the-scenes featurette of the movie’s climax moment: the battle between the Evangelion Units 01 and 13.
The second part will include a director’s cut of the radio show “Rebuild of Evangelion’s All Night Nippon” which was broadcasted originally on Jun. 21 at Nippon Broadcasting’s radio station.
Using the event hashtag, fans will be able to partake in the hype online in the same way they did in 2019. The livestream will not be archived for later viewing, so make sure not to miss it.
Additionally, the voice cast members Ogata Megumi, Mitsuishi Kotono, Yamaguchi Yuriko, and Tachiki Fumihiko, are set to appear alongside chief director Anno Hideaki on a stage event celebrating the finale of the film series on July 11. Details regarding tickets and the schedule are available on the official website.
