From the Netflix original anime series “Spriggan” (to be streamed in 2021), the character visual of the main character, Ominae Yu, has been unveiled. At the same time, it was also announced that the character will be voiced by Kobayashi Chiaki.

The original work of “Spriggan” was serialized in “Weekly Shonen Sunday” from 1989 to 1996, and was a huge hit that sold over 10 million copies in total.
It is an adventure story that depicts the activities of Ominae Yu, a young boy who works as a special agent called “Spriggan” for ARCAM, which was established to seal the legacy of a super ancient civilization.

Directed by Kobayashi Hiroshi known for “Dragon Pilot: Hisone and Masotan” and “KIZNAIVER”, series composition and script by Seko Hiroshi known for “Jujutsu Kaisen” and “BANANA FISH”, character design and chief animation director by Handa Shuhei known for “Little Witch Academia”, and animation production by david production known for “JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure” and “Fire Force”. After more than 30 years since the beginning of the series, it has been reborn with 2D drawings and 3DCG images.

This time, the character visual and voice actor of the main character, Ominae Yu, have been announced.
The voice actor will be Kobayashi Chiaki, who played as Langa in “SK8 the Infinity” and Edamura Makoto (Edamame) in “GREAT PRETENDER”, and won the Rookie Voice Actor Award at the 15th “Seiyu Awards”.

The Netflix original anime series “Spriggan” will be released in 2021.
Kobayashi will appear in “Netflix Anime! Spring 2-hour SP!” to be streamed on April 4 at 8:00 p.m., to talk about this work.

–How did you feel when you were chosen to play as Ominae Yu?

It’s a popular work with a long history, so I was very happy, but at the same time I was aware of a great sense of responsibility.

–Who would you like to see “Spriggan” ?

I’d like people of my generation and people who don’t usually watch anime to watch it. I think people of my generation and those who don’t usually watch anime will especially like it. I’m sure they will be stimulated in ways they don’t usually feel.

To all the Spriggan fans in the world, thank you for your patience. In order to satisfy your desire for Spriggan, all the staff and cast members who love this work are working together to make it with all their strength and all their heart.
I myself have been playing as Ominae Yu until I lose my voice in every episode to keep up with the fervor of the original work, so please look forward to it!
