The finale and latest film of the “Rebuild of Evangelion” series, “Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time” was finally released on March 8, 2021. It was announced that the gross revenue has exceeded 800 million JPY with more than 500 thousand audiences on the first day.
“Neon Genesis Evangelion” is a TV series that was broadcast in 1995 and it has caused a storm. In 2007, the “Rebuild of Evangelion” series was started and three films, which are “You Are (Not) Alone.”, “You Can (Not) Advance.”, and “You Can (Not) Redo.”, were released. The latest film was postponed two times in order to avoid the spread of the coronavirus, and it was finally released nationwide on March 8.
The first day result based on nationwide 466 theatres (including 38 IMAX theatres and 82 4D theatres) is 802,774,200 JPY with a total of 539,623 audiences. The film started off with a great start as the first day gross revenue is 123.8% higher and the audience is 121.7% higher when comparing with the previous film “Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo.”, which was released on Saturday in 2021 with total gross revenue of 5.3 billion JPY, the
