An anime movie directed and produced by Akashi Sanma called “Gyokou no Nikuko-chan” announced the beginning of a voice actor audition. It welcomes anyone to be the voice actress for Maria, who is the friend of Nikuko-chan’s daughter Kikuko, regardless of the background.

“Gyokou no Nikuko-chan” is originally a novel by Nishi Kanako, which received 152th Naoki Award and has the sale over 35 thousand copies. It depicts the life and growth of Nikuko-chan and Kikuko, who lives near the harbor, and has become a hot topic after the participation of Hanae Natsuki has been announced.

The director is Watanabe Ayumu, who also directed “Doraemon the Movie: Nobita’s Dinosaur” and “Children of the Sea”, the character design and design director is Konishi Kenichi, a 1st generational student at Ghibli Studio who also directed the design of “Story of Kaguya” and “Children of the Sea”, the scriptwriter is “Ooshima Satomi” from “Nagi’s Long Vacation”, and STUDIO4°C, studio known for “TEKON KINKREET BLACK & WHITE”, “Children of the Sea”, will be in charge of the overall production.

The voice actor audition was announced on “Nikuko-Chan’s Day”, which is Feb. 9. The audition applicants will be tested for playing “Maria”, who is the friend of Nikuko-chan’s daughter Kikuko”, and anyone with any background can apply for it.
The audition acceptant is expected to interact with main characters often since Maria quickly becomes a friend with Kikuo, who just moved into the new school.

To the applicants, Director Watanabe Ayumu sends the message, that “This movie is full of new experiences. Let’s entertain the world together!”.

“Gyokou no Nikuko-chan” will be released in summer.
The audition application is available from 10 AM of Feb. 10, 2021 to 11:59 PM of Feb. 23, 2021.
