“Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Train”, currently in theaters, exceeded 27.5 billion JPY in box-office revenues, as of November 29, 2020. It has broken the record of “Titanic” and ranks at 2nd place in the Japnese box-office revenue ranking.
“Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba” is originally a Japanese-style dark fantasy serialized in “Weekly Shonen Jump” by Gotouge Koyoharu from 2016 to 2020.
“Kamado Tanjirou Risshi-hen” was broadcast from April to September 2019, with a total of 26 episodes, and the film is based on the next chapter, “Mugen Ressha-hen”.
The box-office records of the 7th week were 392,017 viewers with a revenue of 556,443,300 JPY for November 28, and 320,031 viewers with 448,060,450 JPY for November 29.
The total box office revenue of 414 nationwide theaters (including 38 IMAX theaters) has reached 27,512,438,050 JPY. And a total of 20,532,177 people have watched the film.
This film broke the record of the 1997 film, “Titanic”, which had a box-office revenue of roughly 26.2 billion JPY, and is now ranked at 2nd place in the Japnese box-office revenue ranking. By the way, the 2001 film, “Spirited Away”, is at the top with a record of 30.8 billion JPY.
