“Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba: Infinity Train” Box Office Revenue Exceeds 20.4 Billion JPY, Beating the Records of “Howl” and “Harry Potter”

The box office revenue of “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba: Infinity Train”, which is currently in theaters, has exceeded 20.4 billion JPY by November 8, 2020. It beats “Howl’s Moving Castle” and “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” in box office revenue ranking in Japan, and ranks in 5th place.

“Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba” is originally a Japanese style dark fantasy, which was serialized in “Weekly Shonen Jump” by Gotouge Koyoharu from 2016 to 2020.
The TV anime “Kamado Tanjirou Risshi-hen” (Kamado Tanujirou Rising) with a total of 26 episodes were aired from April to September 2019, and the sequel “Mugen Ressha-hen” (Infinity Train) received a film adaptation.

The box office results of the 4th weekend (November 7, 8) were, 628,614 viewers and a revenue of 863,827,750 JPY for November 7, and 667,179 viewers and a revenue of 909,098,150 JPY for November 8.
The total box office revenue of the 411 theaters (including 38 IMAX theatres) in Japan, has reached 20,483,611,650 JPY, and the total viewers are 15,373,943.

“Howl’s Moving Castle” from 2004 had a box office revenue of 19.6 billion JPY, and “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” had 20.3 billion JPY. “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba: Infinity Train” beat these two films and ranked in 5th place in the box office revenue ranking in Japan.
