The first promo video and advance scenes of “Moriarty the Patriot”, along with the comments from the three cast members and Moriarty brothers, Saitou Soma, Satou Takuya, and Kobayashi Chiaki, have been released. It is set to be broadcast on TOKYO MX, BS11, MBS, and other networks from Oct. 11, 2020.
“Moriarty the Patriot” is based on the manga of the same name written and illustrated by Takeuchi Ryousuke and Miyoshi Hikaru respectively, which is currently serialized in “Jump SQ.”
Set in England at the end of the 19th century, the story follows William James Moriarty and his brothers as they work to shatter the corrupt class system and build an ideal country.
The first PV introduces the acting voices of William James Moriarty (Saitou Souma) and his brothers, along with some cut scenes from the original anime.
In addition, comments and photos of the recordings studio from Saitou Soma, Satou Takuya, and Kobayashi Chiaki have arrived. Saitou said, “When I read the original story, I thought that I'd really like to play the role, so I was really happy when they chose me for the part”, while Satou added, “Since Albert is the eldest brother… I'll do my best at playing him!”. Kobayashi finally said, “It's also a great relief knowing that Saitou Soma and Satou Takuya will be my brothers! This is a true power word”, and so on.
Moreover, info about the theme songs have been revealed.
The OP theme will be “DYING WISH” by Hatanaka Tasuku and the ED theme will be “ALPHA” by STEREO DIVE FOUNDATION.
“Moriarty the Patriot” is scheduled to be broadcast on TOKYO MX, BS11, MBS, and other TV channels from Oct. 11. Also, the first episode will be screened in advance online on Sep. 21.
<Full commentary is below>
Saitou Souma as William James Moriarty
When I read the original story, I thought that I'd really like to play the role, so I was really happy when they chose me for the part. The first episode was a bit unique, and for that reason, I felt I needed to make a firm decision on this part to move forward with William. I tried to give it my all and not to put too much effort into it, and now I'm looking forward to seeing how the finished version will turn out. I hope you will be able to feel and enjoy the story (it's just the beginning)! Thank you, everyone!
Satou Takuya as Albert James Moriarty
For the first time, the “three Moriarty brothers” met face to face… and they fit in! (laughs). The recording session went very well at a good pace. Before it, I had been reading the original story while trying to imagine the brothers' voices, so I was happy to finally meet them. I'm also grateful for the opportunity to work with some of my seniors who play impressive, if not supporting, characters. Since Albert is the eldest brother… I'll do my best at playing him!
Kobayashi Chiaki as Louis James Moriarty
I was drawn to Louis from the moment I read the original story when I auditioned for the role, so I was very happy when they chose me for the part. It's also a great relief knowing that Saitou Soma and Satou Takuya will be my brothers! This is a true power word.
When we were doing the recording for the first episode, the entire cast was acting in a way that perfectly matched the beauty of this work, and I couldn't wait for you all to see it. I'm going to do my best to make you love this work even more, so please, look forward to it!
