"New Chitose Airport International Animation Festival" is open for applications for the competition section. Applications for the Short films section includes installations

“New Chitose Airport International Animation Festival 2020” is open for applications for the competition sections from Apr. 20, 2020. Starting this year, “the Short films section (including student works)” will also include installation works on the premise that they will be presented at galleries.

The Animation Competition is the main event of the “New Chitose Airport International Animation Film Festival”, where many popular animation artists from Japan and overseas come every year.
Last year, which was the sixth time to be held, there were 2,191 entries from 84 countries/regions for short films, and 50 entries from 30 countries/regions for feature films. Director Tomek Popakul from Poland won the Short Film Grand Prix for “Acid Rain”, Director Tsukiji Nohara won the Japanese Grand Prix for “Wandering Mouse: Mukau Nezumi”, and Director Jérémy Clapin from France won the Feature Film Grand Prix for “J'ai perdu mon corps: Nakushita Karada”.

Continuing from last year, this year, they have been accepting applications for the “Short films section (including student works)” and the “Feature films section” from Apr. 20, 2020.
Also, for the “Short films section (including student works)”, it is available to apply works such as GIF, VR, and motion comics since last year, but from this year, in addition to them, it is also available to apply with installation works on the premise that they will be presented at galleries.

The deadline is by Jun. 30, 2020 for the “Short films section (including student works)” and by Jul. 31, 2020 for the “Feature films section”.
