Celebrating Kurosawa Tomoyo's Birthday! Who is your favorite character? 2020 Ver. Will Omae Kumiko from "Sound! Euphonium" be on top for two consecutive years?!

Kurosawa Tomoyo's birthday is on Apr. 10.

After working as a child actor, Kurosawa Tomoyo made her voice acting debut in 2010. She won the Best Actress in a Leading Role Award at the 12th Seiyuu Awards.

In 2020, she voiced the main character in various titles such as, “Uchi Tama!? ~Uchi no Tama Shirimasen ka?~” and “Akudama Drive”.
She is currently active in a wide range of fields, including a live satellite performance of the stage play “Meru Riruru no Hanabi” that will start on Apr. 17.

To celebrate Kurosawa Tomoyo’s birthday, here at Anime!Anime!, we conducted a reader survey asking, “Who is your favorite character played by her?”, followed by the same survey held the previous year. During the survey period between Mar. 30 to Apr. 6, a total of 129 responses were received.
There were more male respondents with the gender ratio being 65% male and 35% female. The age group was about 35% for those under the age of 19, and about 30% for those in their 20s, mainly focusing on youngsters.

■Omae Kumiko is on top for two consecutive years! Her famous line is also popular!
The 1st place goes to Omae Kumiko from “Sound! Euphonium” with approximately 30% of the votes, remaining at the top as in the last year.
Many readers commented on how they were touched by those scenes where the character reveals her emotions, “I think this is a character that shows Kurosawa's ability as a voice actor to its full potential. The scenes featuring the character's outburst of emotions have become all popular, and I can feel a strong sense of trust in the script because of the acting ability”, and “In the scenes where she cried, I was impressed by the perfect pauses between each breath and the hoarse voice”.

Also, fans appreciated her portrayal of how she changes as she progresses through the school years, making it one of the reasons of her ranking success, “Although it was a very slow feeling, I was impressed by seeing her growing up little by little from immaturity, and say the legendary line, “I want to improve”. The protagonist of the popular series, which has celebrated the 5th anniversary of its anime adaptation, ranked at the top of the list.

The 2nd place goes to Okusawa Misaki from “BanG Dream!” with an approval rating of about 20%.

Under the guise of the mascot character Michelle, Okusawa Misaki is the DJ of the girls band Hello, Happy World!. She was praised for her entertaining skills, “She is a teasing character that plays a double role with her alter ego Michelle. In “Bandori!”, she is a rare and sophisticated character”, “I like the way she speaks listlessly and her dialogues with the members of Hello Happy!”, and “This is the character that I feel Kurosawa's acting ability the most as she plays two separate personalities, the band's mascot and the normal girl”.

The 3rd place goes to Arisugawa Otome from “Aikatsu!” with an approval rating of about 10%.
Comments have been received for the innocent character of Arisugawa Otome, “The bright and cheerful voice suits perfectly to Otome-chan!”, and “I like that she is a hard worker as being both the leader of the idol unit Powapowa-Puririn and the Starlight Queen”. Many fans added, “I was used to watching it every week when I was in elementary school” and “I was so happy to see her reappearance on 'Aikatsu on Parade!' after a long time!”.

■Let's introduce other comments!
Inubouzaki Itsuki from “Yuki Yuna Is a Hero”, “At first, she was like a spoiled child chasing after her older sister, but as the story progressed, I was impressed by the way she grew into a young lady”.
Galala•S•Leep from “Idol Time PriPara”, “I liked the way Galala expressed her free and uncontrolled personality, and her solitude as a night spirit”.

Hongou Hitoha from “O Maidens in Your Savage Season”, “I laughed at the way she expressed her feelings to the teacher, but I also liked her cuteness and honesty”.
Some comments praised her singing voice with Oketani Koma from “Uchi Tama!? ~Uchi no Tama Shirimasen ka?~”, “Besides her being a strong and determined spirit, sometimes she acts like a spoiled and genuine child, which makes her cute like a kitten. The ED she was in charge of was also adorable and full of energy”.
