Feb. 20 is Nakamura Yuuichi’s birthday.
Nakamura Yuuichi made his debut in the 2000s. Since then, he has been active in the forefront. In 2019, he appeared in popular works such as, “JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Golden Wind” and “Osomatsu-san the Movie”, and also dubbed overseas titles such as “Aquaman” and “The Queen's Corgi”.
Here at Anime! Anime!, to celebrate Nakamura Yuuichi’s birthday, we conducted a reader survey asking “Among the characters he played, which is your favorite one?”, followed by the same survey held on the previous year. During the survey period between Feb. 6 to Feb. 13, a total of 481 responses were received.
There were more female respondents with the gender ratio being 20% male and 80% female. The age group was about 30% for those under the age of 19, and about 45% for those in their 20s, mainly focusing on youngsters.
■ Karamatsu from “Mr. Osomatsu” maintains the top!
The 1st place goes to Matsuno Karamatsu from “Mr. Osomatsu” with an approval rating of about 10%, maintaining the top position as in the last year.
There were many voices among the readers that consider him a narcissistic character, “With his pretentiousness, the narcissistic lines fit him very well!”, and “The fancy lines are not annoying, and they even work in poor scenes. I feel grateful to see Karamatsu being played in such a great way”.
Regarding “Osomatsu-san the Movie” released in Mar. 2019, there was also a comment that praised a different aspect about the character, “When he was a high school student his personality was different. I loved that performance”.
The 2nd place goes to Oreki Houtarou from “Hyouka” with support rating of 7%.
The calm and cool personality of the character is getting popular among the readers, “The energy-saving personality of Houtarou and Nakamura Yuuichi's calm voice matched very well”, and “The making of a listless character was splendid”. Some fans were impressed by the change of personality shown within the story, “He had an introverted personality, but I like how it changes rapidly due to the influence of the heroine.”
There was also a comment from a fan that would love to spend his school life with him, “If I could start over high school again, I would like to join the Classic Literature Club spending my adolescence with those four guys”.
The 3rd place goes to is Kuroo Tetsurou from “Haikyu!!” with support rating of approximately 6%.
Many fans supported his eccentric personality, “He maintains a nonchalant attitude, but there are also moments where he gets serious. I think the character’s personality is expressed very well through Nakamura-san’s acting ability and his power of expression'', and “Kuroo is played perfectly from the first cool impression to his typical high school student life by chattering with his friends”. The characters of the hit titles that are currently being broadcast in the new series are placed in the top 3.

Graham Aker from “Mobile Suit Gundam 00″; ” He shows a strong personality, both as a soldier proud of his subordinates and as a man whose view has been distorted by his hatred towards Gundam”.
Seizaki Zen from “Babylon”; “I was able to feel the internal conflict of the protagonist who suffers between good and evil. I think that Nakamura-san's performance made him even more attractive”.
There were also some votes supporting overseas titles, such as Steve Rogers / Captain America from “Captain America”; “I can fully enjoy the traditional hero’s voice”, and “I don’t usually watch dubbed foreign movies, but after watching all Nakamura-san's works I can say his voice fitted very well”.
In the top 20, titles that were broadcast in 2019, such as “PSYCHO-PASS 3” and “Fruits Basket” are also ranked in.
