Official comments from Sakura Ayane as Shimotsuki Mika, the chief of the Bureau’s Criminal Investigation Division from “Psyco-Pass 3”, have arrived. She talks about her passion for the character and explains what makes the “Psyco-Pass” series so great. She says, “The world of Psyco-Pass is not at all peaceful, but the series has a kind of scary charm to it and makes you want to live in and hope for such a world.”

“Psyco-Pass 3” is the latest season of the “Psyco-Pass” series, which depicts a near-future society where peoples’ psychological state is translated in numbers to control them and the police force’s justice is questioned.

The cast includes: Kaji Yuki as Shindou Arata, Nakamura Yuichi as Kei Mikhail Ignatov, Sakurai Takahiro as Hinakawa Shou, Otsuka Akio as Todoroki Tenma, Suwabe Junichi as Irie Kazumichi, Nazuka Kaori as Kisaragi Mao, Sawashiro Miyuki as Karanomori Shion, and Sakura Ayane as Shimotsuki Mika .

TV anime “Psyco-Pass 3” is broadcast in an expanded slot on “Noitamina” Fuji TV every Thursday from 24:55 to 25:55 (total of 8 shows). Also exclusively available on Amazon Prime Video both in and out of Japan.

ーWhat is the most important thing you keep in mind when voicing Shimotsuki?

“She would do anything, even if it gets her hated by others, in the name of justice. People have their own ways of getting things done and I may not feel the same as she does, but I don’t have the confidence to say otherwise, so I let my voice chase Shimotsuki where ever she wants to go.”

ーUnit 1 of the Bureau’s Criminal Investigation Division has many unique characters. What kind of team are they in your opinion?

“No matter how many members are changed, unit 1 has to have a strong quirk. However, in my personal opinion, I wish they could listen a bit more to what others are saying.”

ーThis series is broadcast in an expanded slot of 1 hour, this gives us a more intense experience of the drama. What were your thoughts when you heard the show was 1 hour long?

“I thought they’re trying to make Psyoco-Pass a more authentic detective show. It excited me to think that maybe someday animation and other TV shows will be treated equally!”

ーSince the first season in 2012, “Psyco-Pass” has been widely developed from a TV animation to films and stage plays. What do you think makes this series so attractive?

“The charm of the characters and the well-thought-out plot goes without saying, but I also love the CGI that gives it a kind of cyber touch. With this and the music, I get totally lost in the animation.
The world of Psyco-Pass is not at all peaceful, but the series has a kind of scary charm to it and makes you want to live in and hope for such a world.”
