“Which anime pilgrimage do you want to go?” Did 「Weathering with You」 or 「K-ON!」 grab 1st place…?

The result of an “Anime Pilgrimage” survey conducted by Daiwa Next Bank from their 「Domestic Travel Survey 2019」 has been announced. Over the course of a year, a total of 1000 men and women aged 20-69 were surveyed. 1st place went to 「Kimi no Na wa.」 (「Your Name」), 2nd place went to 「Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi」 (「Spirited Away」), and 3rd place went to 「Tonari no Totoro」 (「My Neighbor Totoro」).

「Kimi no Na wa」, by farthe most popular in 1st place, scored 79 votes. 2nd place 「Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi」 scored 30 votes, and 3rd place 「Tonari no Totoro」 scored 23 votes. All movies in the top three were big anime movie hits, and also bring to mind peaceful domestic travels as an “anime pilgrimage.”

「Kimi no Na wa」’s scenery was modeled from Gifu Prefecture’s Takayama in the Hida region and Tokyo metropolis, and 「Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi」 ‘s Onsen was based off of Ehime Prefecture’s Dogo Onsen main building, to name a few.

The rest of the rankings got roughly the same number of votes. However, 「K-ON!」, 「Tenki no Ko」, 「Slam Dunk」, 「Mimi wo Sumaseba」 (「Whisper of the Heart」), 「Shinseiki Evangelion」 (「Neon Genesis Evangelion」), 「Meitantei Conan」 (「Detective Conan」), 「Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae wo Bokutachi wa mada Shiranai.」 (「Anohana: The Flower we Saw that Day」), and 「Love Live!」 ranked in the top 10.
Lastly, taking ages into account, 「K-ON!」 scored 2nd place among 40 year olds, and 「Tonari no Totoro」 scored 2nd place among 50 and 60 year olds, a small shift from the whole picture.
