The cosplay event “acosta! @ Ikebukuro Sunshine City” was held in Ikebukuro Sunshine City, Tokyo for 2 days on Aug. 31 and Sep. 1.

The concept of this event is “Let’s enjoy cosplay in Ikebukuro, the center of girlish culture”. People could move around the area freely and enter more than a 100 stores while cosplaying. This event won popularity with cosplayers from its enjoyable interactions and photoshoots.

Also, in addition to the good location of Ikebukuro, the cosplayers’ participation fee is comparatively reasonable, so it is easy for people who have just started cosplay to participate.
Looking around the venue, there were many high school students as participants. At one time, many people started cosplaying since they were in their twenties, but in recent years there have been an increasing number of people starting cosplaying in their teens. The underlying reasons for this are the increasing popularity of cosplay in recent years and the increasing public awareness.
