From “Komi Can’t Communicate” (starting from October 6, 2021), the additional character and cast information are revealed. Inoue Kikuko participates as the protagonist’s mother, Komi Shuko, and Hoshino Mitsuaki participates as Komi Masayoshi.
The original work of “Komi Can’t Communicate” is the manga by Oda Tomohito, which is currently serialized in “Weekly Shonen Sunday”.
This is a comedy following a beautiful girl with communication disorder, where Komi-san, a first-year high school student with the dream “to have 100 friends” together with extreme social communication problems, spends ordinary life with unique friends, including her “first friend” but “too ordinary” classmate called Tadano-kun and others.
Two additional casts were announced this time. Inoue Kikuko plays Komi Shuko and Hoshino Mitsuaki plays Komi Masayoshi. The comments from both casts have arrived.
“Komi Can’t Communicate” will be broadcast from midnight of October 6, 2021 on TV Tokyo and other channels.
Komi Shuko (CV: Inoue Kikuko)
■Character Description
She is the mother of Komi-san. Her perfect beautify is inherited to Komi-san herself. However, she has high social communication skills and can talk to Tadano-kun regardless of the first encounter, and this factor wasn’t inherited to her daughter.

Q1. Please tell us your impression on this work.
I was first excited to see the impactful title, but as I learn more and more about this, I was drawn into the story!
Heart-warming kindness, sadness and jokes all fully compose the work.
I think it would be fun to pay further attention to all unique characters, including Komi-san and her unique friends.
Q. Please tell us the impression on your character and your thoughts.
Shuko-san is a self-claimed “forever 17”. Hey hey. I am sorry. (^^)
I am so thankful that they nominated me for this role. I will play her optimistically, because she is so energetic and easy-going, compared to her daughter, Komi-san♪
At the same time, she understands her daughter more than anyone else, and sometimes shows calm beauty, so I will adjust her characteristic as I keep playing her.
Komi Masayoshi (CV: Hoshino Mitsuaki)
■ Character Description
He is the father of Komi-san. From the perspective of an outsider, they don’t look to have nice relationship due to silent personality of him, however, they can communicate without exchange of words, can send his daughter a gift at the perfect timing, etc.

Q1. Please tell us your impression on this work.
It’s necessary to be brave when talking to someone, especially when meeting for the first time or is at the higher position. When I look back on when I was a teenager, I have many regrets that “I should have talked like this”.
This work fully contains the relaxing, but bittersweet memories of beautiful scenery, smile of beautiful lady, a lot of fond people, and nostalgia back in the day.
Q2. Please tell us the impression on your character and your thoughts.
I was often called by my family that “You are the person from Meiji Era” during Heisei Era. Now we are in Reiwa Era, so I expected to be called as “Showa person”, but they now call me “you come before WWII”.
Komi Masayoshi is a quiet person. When I played him like a comedy at the first recording session, the sound director corrected me to “play like handsome Takakura Ken-san”.
Then, I decided the image for the final trial.
Person from Meiji→ before WWII→Takakura Ken-san→Komi Masayoshi-san.
Please be kind to our family, especially my daughter Shoko.
I remember the nostalgic line of Ken-san: “I am clumsy…”.
