“Ryoma! Rebirth: The Prince of Tennis Movie” will be released on September 3. In anticipation, the first 10 postcard illustrations which will be distributed during the first week, were revealed. The collection titled “‘Ryoma! Rebirth: The Movie’ Ending Credits Illustration ★ Surprise Manga Postcard” features exclusive illustrations by Konomi Takeshi, creator of the series and general supervisor of the film.
“Ryoma! Rebirth: The Prince of Tennis Movie” takes place during the three-month time period between the events at the end of the “The Prince of Tennis” and the start of “The New Prince of Tennis”.
After winning the ferocious battle at the All-Japan National Tournament, Ryoma travels alone to America in order to refine his skills, however, due to a “certain incident” Ryoma ends up slipping back in time and finds a younger Echizen Nanjiro on his active player days, during which he was known as “Samurai”….
The 10 illustrations unveiled also appear at the ending credits, and will be distributed as postcards during the first premiere week (September 3 ~ 9).
In addition to the ones featuring Ryoma, Oishi, and Kikumaru that had already been released previously, the newly revealed illustrations feature the character pairs Echizen Manjiro & Karupin, Ryuzaki Sakuno & Osakada Tomoka, Kite Eishiro & Aragaki Koichi, and the trio Tokugawa Kazuya & Oni Jujiro & Irie Kanata, as well as an another one of Echizen Ryoma.
“Ryoma! Rebirth: The Prince of Tennis Movie” will premiere on September 3, 2021. The bonus postcards come in 40 different types total, of which 10 sets will be distributed at random throughout 4 weeks at theater venues.
Additionally, a press event with the cast members and staff was announced to happen on August 21, and will be live-streamed for free. Another stage event is set for September 4, and will be live broadcast throughout movie theaters in Japan. Details can be found on the movie’s official website.
